Extra-Curricular activities and Volunteer Work
For Australian employers, volunteering plays an important role in the selection procedure. To increase your chances of getting an interview, give relevant examples of what you were able to learn/achieve in your volunteer duties, especially with regard to transferrable skills relevant to the job requirements.
Skills and Qualifications
List courses, certificates and training relevant for the job application. Include languages and IT user level with different software applications. Do note, that Australian companies are interested in developing strong business connections with South-Eastern Asia, hence mentioning proficiency in one/several languages spoken in that region can be advantageous.
Visa
Clearly indicate on your resume whether you are eligible for a permanent residence visa in Australia or require sponsorship from an Australian sponsor.
References
It is advisable to include a reference list with your resume giving 2-3 referees. Give referees with name, position title, company and contact information for each, your relationship with the referee. Reference letters are less preferred in the initial application phase. In case of an unsolicited application, “references available upon request” are more appropriate. Both academic and work contacts may be used as references, however permission should always be asked to provide their details.
