Ireland CV Sample page 2
Skills
Include only facts. Personal skills, motivation, or other qualities should be included in the motivation letter, rather than the CV.
Hobbies
Whether or not to include hobbies is a personal choice. Some recruiters like to get a fuller picture of the candidate, whereas others may have no interest. But give some thought as to what to include. Sport is a-OK as it shows determination, commitment and often teamwork. Hobbies such as reading are OK too, but be a bit more specific; add genre or favourite writer – you may share a passion with the interviewer. Travelling is a tricky one; will you be looking for additional leave to climb the Himalaya? If you include travel, make sure to use it to show your interest in other cultures and diversity of people. Adding something unusual may work well; If you are a mathematician by education and a champion in salsa dancing in your spare time, you provide the interviewer with a more rounded picture of you as a candidate.
