Including your profile picture in an Austrian CV is optional. However, if you choose to have one, make sure it is professionally looking.

In German?

CVs in Austria are usually written in German. It is to your advantage if you have a good command of the German language to write your ‘Lebenslauf’ in German but make sure a native speaker grammar-checks it for you nevertheless.

Marital status

It is not uncommon for an Austrian CV to give marital status. Even religion and names and professions of parents are occasionally given. Whether you want to do this too is a matter of personal preference. It is no longer considered a necessity.

TOP TIP

An Austrian CV is simple and straightforward. It lists what you have done to date and is not the sales pitch that is for instance common in North America.

Education

Include your academic result - grades matter! Plus list the results of courses that are deemed relevant for the job position you are applying for. However, once you have more work experience it is not uncommon to drop your grades and put more emphasis on your practical experience.
