TOP TIP
if you are applying for an internship/apprenticeship, do mention your ideas about wages, length and structure, in order to ‘talk about the same subject’. This is because internships/apprenticeships are not common in the United Arab Emirates.
Personal details
Be aware of the strong religious influence in the UAE. For example, if you are not married but living together with a partner it is not wise to mention it in your personal details – refrain from giving your marital status.
Personal profile
If you are applying for a professional position, write a short personal profile describing yourself. Keep it simple; do not oversell your qualities and skills.
Skills
List several key skills, which are relevant for the job you are applying for. You can use stronger words in the skills section than in the profile section.
Languages
Especially if you possess Arabic language skills, you should mention it in your CV, preferably under ‘Key Skills’.
Achievements
This is the section where you can make an impression upon your prospective employer. But again, simply list achievements, do not boost about them.
References
Bring a sheet of paper listing your references (inform your referees beforehand) when you are invited for a job interview. Do also not forget to bring a copy of your CV, application letter, as well as certificates, diplomas, passport, and additional photographs with you.
