CV Photo

Always attach a photo to your Japanese CV: make sure you wear business attire and that you look professional. The picture should be placed in the upper right corner of your CV. The appropriate size of the photo is (36-40) x (24x30).

TOP TIP

A ‘rirekisho’ (the Japanese word for CV) is your “personality on a page” – you have 4 seconds to win over the recruiter. Make your CV look clean and neat, easy to understand and of course (!) with no spelling mistakes :)

Dates

Consider using the Japanese way of stating dates (yy/mm/dd), as it will definitely give you some extra credit.

Address

In Japan, the address is written in a different way than the Western way. Japanese start from the larger to the smallest unit; hence, they first state the city before the actual address.

Summary of Qualifications

2-3 lines briefly highlighting your key competences, skills, and experience.
